I had an “awww” moment upon reading that long-time Seminole State College President Dr. Ann McGee will be retiring next July from the post she’s held for 21 years. Dr. McGee has doubled the college’s enrollment and grown its budget exponentially. She has been exceptionally gracious to both CareerSource Central Florida as an organization and to me personally; we have forged partnerships between our organizations that benefit students…and employers in the region. Though her presence will continue to be felt through fundraising, her departure leaves ginormous shoes to fill – she will leave the college with a legacy of financial stability, respect, and grace.
Mayor’s Simulation Summit
Want an insider’s look into our unique regional tech-industry sector? Mayor Jacobs and the National Center for Simulation get set to host their third annual Florida Simulation Summit at the Orange County Convention Center on September 7th. More than a venue to highlight advancements in transportation, medicine, architecture, and engineering, this year’s theme includes a closer look at advancements in virtual and augmented reality, bringing together some of the sharpest technology and business minds in our region. If this year’s showcase is anything like last year’s (featuring a rather detailed, life-like health science simulation), prepare to be stunned.
