Storm Stifles Careers?
The effects of Hurricane Irma continue to mount, but there are signs of recovery as we continue to rebound, rebuild and return to normalcy. So while the beaches may be back, many businesses are not. And that means many of our family, friends, and neighbors are looking for work. The State has made resources like Bridge loans, Disaster Unemployment and temporary recovery jobs available to help small business and workers recover. CareerSource Central Florida can connect you to these programs, so please stop by one of our career services centers for support, assistance, and work.
Just about everywhere else is cooling off, but here in Central Florida, October is still summer-like – too hot for autumn, too late for BBQ. October, though, is the start of many things: a fiscal year, a new quarter, pumpkin spice everything, and even a federal holiday (Columbus Day – but no day off here!). And while October ends with Halloween, it unofficially kicks off the holiday season. Somewhere in the middle is always Oktoberfest and beer! From the Seminole County Chamber’s exploration of local microbrews to EPCOT’s Food & Wine Festival to many other favorites around the region (Mills to Mt Dora)…let’s raise a stein…Cheers!
