This past weekend, I had the privilege of attending my first UCF Football game and wouldn’t you know, the team set a school record for most points in a game! Saturday night was perfect – beautiful, cool, with spectacular on-the-field-action. Even the refs made it interesting with some crazy calls that really charged up the crowd. I was a little disappointed that the attendance at our beautiful home-town stadium was a bit low. Let’s support the home team and university that gives back so much to our community! Thank you, Dr. Hitt, for your vision of excellence in academics and all things UCF. Charge on, Knights!
Challenges Facing Puerto Ricans Considering Living in Central Florida
With 70 percent of the island still without power, and unemployment claims continuing to mount, the far-reaching impacts of Hurricane Maria on Puerto Rico, and the Caribbean as a whole, are adding up. Tens of thousands of evacuees have already fled the island for Florida, where the hope of a new life awaits. I’m so proud of our Central Florida community for the way we continue to pull together to help all those who are considering moving here and taking on the challenges of finding new jobs, new homes, new neighbors, new friends…new lives. Their courage is truly inspiring.
