Full Throttle to Full-Time Employment in Seminole

Malcolm Hillery was a walk-in customer at the Seminole Office this past October. He wanted a more stable income in order to be a better provider for his family; as a single father, he shared equal custody of his three children.

Possessing only a high school diploma, Malcolm was working part-time at Bill Ray Nissan as an on-call detailer. But he was looking for a career that, in addition to helping him provide for his family, would allow him to eventually obtain the skills and experience to one day start his own business.

A driven man before partnering with CSCF, Malcolm obtained his CDL permit on his own, but needed training to obtain his CDL Class A. Julia Perry, CSCF Career Consultant, worked with him and Truck Driver Institute (TDI) to get him funded. He began training in October and successfully completed in mid-November. Malcolm quickly gained employment (within one week of graduating) with Werner Enterprises Inc., as a full-time driver earning $16.25 an hour!

Malcolm is grateful to CSCF, saying that his scholarship would help him accomplish his current goal to provide for his family, and help him get a step closer to being able to offer future opportunities to his community. His success proves him right!
