FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CareerSource Central Florida President and CEO Elected 2nd Vice President of Prominent National Organization
New Leadership Role Brings National Attention to Central Florida
Orlando, Fla. – CareerSource Central Florida (CSCF) is proud to announce that President and CEO, Pamela J. Nabors, has been elected 2nd Vice President for the U.S. Conference of Mayor’s (USCM) Workforce Development Council (WDC) for 2019. Nabors’ election to the third-highest position will influence nationwide decision and policy makers concerning workforce priorities, goals and funding allocations.
The WDC has worked closely with Mayors and their representatives across the nation since 1977 to influence Congress, policy, and the U.S. Department of Labor in directing employment and training funds throughout the country. The Council meets throughout the year to ensure workforce development activities are a key focus for cities, and supports and informs the work of the USCM Committee on jobs, education and workforce.
In 2013, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer nominated Nabors to the WDC Board of Directors and she’s been an actively engaged member ever since. Nabors served as co-chair of both the Future Workforce Committee (2015-2016) and the Membership Committee (2017-2018), and has been an elected member of the WDC Board of Trustees for the past five years.
Nabors’ diverse involvement with the WDC has truly played an integral role in keeping CSCF connected to the rest of the country. Through her new leadership role, Nabors can further shape workforce development policy, raise awareness of workforce development issues with Congress, address local issues and better understand – and help address – national trends. Her participation with this premier body provides CSCF special opportunities to partner with community leaders from across the country, exchange best workforce practices, share successes, and make a direct impact on how federal dollars are allocated to states and cities for workforce programs and services.
