CAREERSOURCE CENTRAL FLORIDA DEBUTS EXPANSION OF SUMMER YOUTH PROGRAM AIMED AT PROVIDING 1,000 YOUNG ADULTS A PRACTICAL CAREER JOURNEY ENCOUNTER
Orlando, Fla. – CareerSource Central Florida (CSCF) today announced it has launched a newly expanded, summer youth program aimed at empowering and preparing young adults, ages 16-24, with an opportunity to explore different career options, gain real-work experience that may not otherwise be available to them, and earn wages and/or stipends for industry certifications in the process.
With three dynamic paths available — Experience, Explorer, Accelerator — young adults will receive occupational training, key workplace soft skills, jobs or get connected with post-secondary educators for training and hands-on learning. CSCF will partner with public institutions and private businesses to deliver jobs, learning, increase investments and enable more individuals to participate.
The Experience path will provide young adults work-based internships and up to 30 hours of work per week at area businesses; Explorer, geared to the student who is undecided in their career or education choices, will provide a mix of hands-on activities, tours and exposure at a host college campus while exploring in-demand occupations; and in Accelerator they will be provided training in the construction or coding industry to connect them to in-demand careers and meet the needs of local businesses.
“CSCF is thrilled to provide an expanded program that will help even more young adults discover career options that best fit their interests,” stated Mimi Coenen, Chief Operating Officer for CareerSource Central Florida. “As their guiding light, CSCF connects youth to premium resources that will ignite a passion for their future and lead them throughout career journey.”
Through invaluable partnerships with local businesses, colleges, and other postsecondary institutions, such as Valencia College, Seminole State College, Lake Technical College, CSCF trains and places young adults in high-demand jobs available within the Central Florida region.
In addition, CSCF works closely with municipalities in the region on year-round youth programs, such as Orange County, City of Mount Dora and City of Apopka to expand its reach and upskill even more youth.
[Since 2016, CSCF’s youth program has served more than 2,000 at-risk, young adults delivering valuable work experience for meeting the needs of local businesses and supporting high-growth industries throughout the region.] CSCF is now accepting applications for all paths, and registration is open. Eligibility requirements apply.
