At the end of June, Our President & CEO was honored with the Hats Off to Success Community Award from Dress for Success Greater Orlando! Pam was out of town at a U.S. Conference of Mayors event so our COO, Mimi Coenen accepted the award on her behalf. This annual luncheon honors Central Florida leaders who are living out the Dress for Success mission. This organization, and all the honorees, are doing amazing things for our community.

Our very own, Mimi Coenen, COO was hand selected by the Orlando Business Journal to provide her insights during their “Doing Business in Lake County” panel discussion. This panel focused on the growing population of Lake County and how we plan to address the need for jobs, infrastructure and housing in the coming years.

MacKenzie Varney had grown up with her father in the military and was quite accustomed to change. However, one stop in Orlando changed her life forever. Her father abandoned her here and she ended up meeting a guy who was all wrong for her. Long story short, Mackenzie ended up pregnant… and alone. That is, until she saw the CSCF light.

This is an exciting time for our organization as July 1st marked the beginning of our new program year and we kicked it off by welcoming six new members to our Board of Directors. Lake County Commissioner Leslie Campione along with other community leaders, Board members and local business partners helped showcase our first-of-its-kind full service career center at Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) in a grand opening ceremony.
This newly imagined space, located in LSSC’s Foundation Building, helps develop training synergies, provides resources for students who want to jumpstart their careers and creates a strong talent pipeline for years to come that meet the needs of local businesses in Lake and Sumter counties.

The beginning of June marked the official kick-off of CSCF’s expanded Summer Youth Program. With eight different locations and nearly 800 enrolled students, our youth staff had their hands full ensuring these young adults were set up for success during their summer internships.
