Manufacturing and Construction Training

CareerSource Central Florida and Seminole State College have partnered to assist career seekers enter the booming industry of construction and manufacturing – one of Central Florida’s fastest growing sectors in the construction industry.
The Construction and Manufacturing Training Program is available for students to attend at no cost. Only small fees such as books and certifications may apply. During this training program, you will earn nationally-recognized industry certificates, and experience in the construction and manufacturing industry.
Students who have successfully completed the first tier will possess an OSHA 10 Hour Card, NCCER Wallet Card, and MSSC-CPT.
Students who attend the 10-hour OSHA training will earn an OSHA 10-hour card. The 10-hour course is intended for entry-level workers. This course provides information about worker rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint and provides basic awareness training on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of workplace hazards.
The NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) Core Curriculum is a prerequisite to all other Level 1 craft curriculum. Its modules cover topics such as Basic Safety, Communication Skills and Introduction to Construction Drawings. Completing this curriculum gives the trainee the basic skills needed to continue education in any craft area he or she chooses.
MSSC-CPT (Manufacturing Skill Standards Council-Certified Production Technician) provides certification to individuals who demonstrate mastery of the core competencies of manufacturing production at the front-line (entry-level through front-line supervisor) through successful completion of the certification assessments.
The Construction and Manufacturing Training Program lasts for eight weeks, with classes offered in the morning and afternoon.
Typical entry-level wages for these positions average from $10.00 to $12.00 per hour.
