Within only a month of unemployment, Calhoun connected with a hiring manager from Rosen Hotels & Resorts and began working for the highly-esteemed hospitality mogul as the Human Resources Manager. Calhoun now serves one of Central Florida’s leading targeted industries and aims to help other veterans enter this booming market.

Despite providing a valuable service to our country, Donald Manzella faced a familiar struggle among military veterans: convincing businesses that his skills from the military would transfer to a civilian career. While his impressive resume included work as a United States Navy aircraft mechanic, the work began to dry up. Faced with short-lived, unstable contracting jobs, Manzella knew he needed to shift focus. Manzella learned about CareerSource Central Florida through word-of-mouth. He decided to see for himself if it could set him on a career pathway toward longevity and stability. With the assistance of a Veterans Career Consultant, Manzella took advantage of resources, including financial assistance from United Way, the Resource Room, and hiring events. After hard work and utilizing the tailored services, Manzella accepted a position with Nova Technologies as a Simulator Technician III, supporting them with design, development, and sustainment of military training systems, at a starting salary of $43,680.
