Requirements: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. One year experience working with adults with developmental disabilities preferred. Experience in day training and/or production also preferred. Must have written and verbal communication skills. Staff are required to drive and transport individuals. Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. Staff must obtain a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical (at Primrose’s expense) and be able to meet and maintain our insurability requirements. This is a non-exempt position. Must be able to stand, walk and bend for extended periods of time with lifting requirements of up to 50 pounds, or more (with assistance). Usage of behavioral management techniques (requiring physical exertion) as designated by the Center is required. Handle work materials requiring lifting. Employer conduct drug screening and background checks.
Job Responsibilities: The Support Assistant’s role is to learn about what is most important in the lives of people receiving services and providing/developing supports to help the people achieve their personal priorities. Responsible for working with the team, directed by the individual, to develop and implement his/her personal IP (Implementation Plan) including behavioral programming, acquisition skills and documentation as required by the Center. Implements ongoing services and supports to assist individuals in achieving their personal IP. Assist adults who need total care or toileting assistance, which could require lifting. Use the Individual Personal Outcomes process to learn about each individual’s outcome priorities. Establish, with the individual, measurements and steps to achieve his/her outcome priorities. Identify and establish services and supports needed to assist the person to achieve his/her outcomes. Learn about the life experiences (work, residential, social, etc.) of each person and assist him/her to expand his/her experiences through education and exposure to a variety of community experiences. Learn what challenges hinder the accomplishment of the outcome priorities.
Salary: $8.10 – $10.00 per hour
