The Summer Youth Program is aimed at empowering and preparing young adults, ages 16-24, with an opportunity to explore different career options, gain real-work experience and earn wages and/or stipends for industry certifications in the process.
With three dynamic paths available – Experience, Explorer, Accelerator – young adults will receive occupational training, key workplace soft skills, jobs, or get connected with post-secondary educators for training and hands-on learning. We will be partnering with public institutions and private businesses to deliver jobs, learning, increase investments and enable more individuals to participate.
The Experience path will provide young adults work-based internships and up to 30 hours of work per week at area businesses. Explorer, geared to the student who is undecided in their career or education choices, will provide a mix of hands-on activities, tours and exposure at a host college campus while exploring in-demand occupations. Lastly, with Accelerator they will be provided training in the construction or coding industry to connect them to in-demand careers and meet the needs of local high-growth businesses.
Since 2016, our youth program has served more than 2,000 at-risk young adults delivering valuable work experience for meeting the needs of local businesses and supporting high-growth industries throughout the region. In an effort to expand our footprint and influence even more youth, we are excited to be recruiting 1,000 young adults for this year’s summer program alone.
