Central Florida’s Unemployment Rate At 7.7% for November 2020, 1.3 Percentage Point Higher than the State

Orlando, Fla.,– The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Central Florida (CSCF) region (Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Sumter counties) was 7.7% in November 2020, which was higher than the state’s rate of 6.4%. This rate was 5.0 percentage point higher than the region’s rate of 2.7% during the same timeframe last year. The labor force was 1,344,831 down 61,334 (-4.4) over the year. There were 103,374 unemployed residents in the region.

Unemployment Rates

Central Florida’s Lowest Unemployment Rates:

• Seminole County had the lowest unemployment rate (5.7%) in the CSCF region followed by Sumter County (6.3%), Lake County (6.5%), Orange County (8.1%), and Osceola County (9.7%).

Job Growth Trends

Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford MSA:

• Nonagricultural employment was 1,222,600, a decrease of 125,100 Jobs (-9.3%) over the year.
• Industries losing jobs over the year were:
