Central Florida’s Unemployment Rate At 6.4% for February 2021, 1.7 Percentage Point Higher than the State

Orlando, Fla.,– The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Central Florida (CSCF) region (Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Sumter counties) was 6.4% in February 2021, which was higher than the state’s rate of 4.7%. This rate was 3.3 percentage point higher than the region’s rate of 3.1% during the same timeframe last year. The labor force was 1,308,487, down 105,573 (-7.5) over the year. There were 84,102 unemployed residents in the region.

Central Florida’s Lowest Unemployment Rates:

• Seminole County had the lowest unemployment rate (4.4%) in the CSCF region followed by Sumter County (4.5%), Lake County (5.1%), Orange County (6.9%), and Osceola County (8.8%).

Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford MSA:

• Nonagricultural employment was 1,176,300, a decrease of 168,500 Jobs
