Veteran Finds New Mission at

After six years in the military as a skilled Apache helicopter mechanic, Nate returned home with appreciation from his unit and a stack of paperwork, wondering what came next. In his words, “The Army gave me paperwork, not a plan.” That’s when Nate connected with CSCF to translate his military experience into a civilian-ready resume. CSCF helped him highlight his military skills in ways employers would understand, practice mock interviews, and counsel him to career paths that would value his unique skills. As a result, Nate landed a position as a ride technician at a local theme park and is proud to be in a role where his skills matter.

Jayden’s Journey in the Summer Youth Program CareerSource Central Florida is giving students powerful opportunities to explore careers, build skills, and ignite their futures through the Summer Youth Program. During Jayden’s internship, he worked with the Florida Semiconductor Institute on new initiatives designed to bring semiconductor education to K–12 students across the state. From developing resources for teachers to launching school-based semiconductor clubs, this experience showed Jayden what’s possible when youth talent meets industry innovation. Programs like the Summer Youth Program connect students with employers early, helping them develop essential skills: how to learn, how to lead, how to sell themselves, and how to find purpose. Students in CareerSource Central Florida’s High School Career Express program got an inside look at careers in healthcare during a visit to AdventHealth in Lake County. Through hands-on activities and conversations with healthcare professionals, juniors and seniors explored career pathways, gained valuable insights and experienced what it’s like to work in one of the region’s most in-demand industries.
