Giancarlo took the first step to ignite his potential by signing up for the Summer Youth Program and exploring a career in the Information Technology field. The Accelerate Track allows students to gain experience in an industry or field they would like to explore. Since Giancarlo was a child, he enjoyed taking things apart to figure out how they worked. With time, he developed a passion for computers and was curious about a career in Computer Engineering. CareerSource Central Florida’s (CSCF) Summer Youth counselor suggested following a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) path such as code school. Through the program, he began learning about basic coding languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and as a result, he built a fully functional website from scratch! In the process, he earned a summer stipend he used to invest in a computer and continue advancing his skills. “My instructors have been available if I needed help with anything, from coding to life advice. Everyone has been supportive, and we haven’t lost contact at all,” said Giancarlo.
