We’ve been paying close attention to the newly formed Florida Talent Development Council, a new initiative put in place by Governor Ron DeSantis. We’re thrilled that CareerSource Florida has been appointed to have a seat at the table to help shape the future of Florida’s workforce. The Council works to develop a coordinated, data-driven, statewide approach to meeting and preparing Florida’s talent supply system to meet evolving workforce needs. It’s an approach that’s critical to maintaining a strong and sustainable economy that continues to attract businesses to move to and expand in Florida.
Appointed Council members include experts in the state’s educational and workforce landscapes including CareerSource Florida President, Michelle Dennard and DEO Executive Director, Ken Lawson. Five workgroups, each with a focused aim to reach one collective goal, round out the initiative. The Council’s goal is to create a strategic plan with targeted approaches and tactics for talent development for the state.
The Council meets regularly via teleconference to hear updates to help create strategies from each of the five workgroups; Policy and System Alignment, Workforce Readiness, Cross-sector Collaboration and Engagement, Data and Accountability, and Equity and Access. The strategic plan will be presented to the State by year end.
