CSCF attended the Proclamation Ceremony for Manufacturing Month in Osceola, held at Valencia College Advanced Manufacturing Center. Osceola County Chairman Fred Hawkins Jr. presented the proclamation in the company of County Commissioners Cheryl Grieb and Viviana Janer. Sherry Reeves of the Manufacturer’s Association of Central Florida was also present.
In addition to recognizing the huge contributions manufacturing makes to the economy, the ceremony also highlighted the important partnership between CSCF and Community Vision (CV). CSCF and CV have been working very closely together to dually enroll participants in Valencia College’s many manufacturing training programs.
The first quarter of this year, 14 participants have been fully funded for Mechatronics and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) because of this partnership. CSCF pays the cap amount of $5,000, while Community Vision pays the remaining tuition ($2,000), to make the program fully funded for the students. Participants in these training programs are enthusiastic about the opportunity to work in manufacturing and have been successful. So much so, that one of CSCF’s WIOA participants, Francisco, was recognized as student of the month in his CNC class.
