Breaking barriers and building futures through career pathways in Central Florida

For many Central Florida residents, the struggle to find a sustainable career is more than just a job search away — it is about overcoming obstacles to find opportunities to meet their unique challenges and needs.
CareerSource Central Florida’s (CSCF) Access to Career Pathways is dedicated to helping individuals in unique situations break through those barriers and enter sustainable, fulfilling careers through career exploration, engagement, experience and advocacy. The program, funded by the Level Up Orange grant, offers training, opportunity and support to three specific populations in Orange County: justice-involved, individuals with disabilities and encore workers aged 50+ rejoining the workforce.
Justice-involved program
For justice-involved individuals, finding employment can be particularly challenging. The CSCF justice-involved initiative seeks to turn that challenge into an opportunity. Through the four-week program, participants are equipped with the tools and information needed to help rebuild their lives. Participants receive support from financial literacy experts and legal aid attorneys who help them navigate the complexities of the expungement process and learn about career opportunities.
This program is made possible through the collaborative efforts of community partners like Valencia College, 2nd Chance University and the Office of State Attorney Andrew Bain. Their support helps us build a strong foundation for career opportunities, training and referrals to the program.
Individuals with disabilities
For individuals with disabilities, the road to employment is faced with extra hurdles. CSCF is committed to providing comprehensive support, empowering these individuals through career exploration, education, training and customized solutions. Our career consultants provide essential support by enhancing interview skills, updating resumes and teaching soft skills necessary for earning the Florida Ready to Work Certification. Other support includes career counseling, job readiness workshops and training opportunities while connecting participants with employers committed to inclusive hiring practices.
The Access to Career Pathways program collaborates with the Ticket to Work (TTW) program, which aims to increase employment opportunities for individuals aged 18 to 64 who receive Social Security benefits, including Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI). Our goal is to guide participants toward self-sufficiency, supporting their pursuit of rewarding careers.
Encore workers: New beginnings
Navigating today’s labor market can be intimidating for workers aged 50+ who are reentering the workforce. CSCF’s Encore Workers program provides tools, training, and support to remain competitive in today’s workforce. Whether through job search assistance, training opportunities, or resume-building workshops, CSCF ensures that participants can confidently step into their next chapter.
