The impact of CareerSource Central Florida’s High School Career Express Program
Have you heard about CareerSource Central Florida’s High School Career Express program?
High School Career Express is a career exploration and engagement program for high school students in Orange County. During the spring, juniors and seniors from Evans and Colonial High School engaged in weekly business visits where they learn about company work culture, career pathways, work readiness skills and more.
The students visited different businesses, including Addition Financial, HCA Florida Healthcare, Orange County Government, Lockheed Martin, Walt Disney World and EA Games, representing a variety of industries, including finance, health care, information technology, hospitality and the public sector. The participants engaged in interactive activities, including role-playing, networking and building connections for practical skill development. They also connected with guest speakers from each sector, sharing real-world insights.
This program is an excellent opportunity for youth in our community to help them understand their options early in their career journey while enhancing their skills and fostering personal and professional growth. By the end of the program, students became well-equipped with resources to be successful in the next steps of their career journeys.

It has placed more than 6,400 individuals in jobs and helped advance skills for more than 1,864 career seekers across Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Lake and Sumter counties.
